    Attention Students:

Summer 2024 15-Week, 5A, and 7A courses will appear in Blackboard starting the afternoon of 5/10 in preparation for their official start date on 5/13.

Students who add summer courses during the add/drop period will automatically be enrolled into their Blackboard courses through an enrollment batch run daily in the morning, afternoon, and/or evening until the end of add/drop.

Students who are signed in to a class after add/drop has ended must email distancelearning@rcsj.edu to be enrolled in their courses in Blackboard.

Students who drop courses should email distancelearning@rcsj.edu to have those courses removed from their courses list in Blackboard.

  • Read Before Login or If You Need Support... (Wednesday, April 10, 2024)

    (Friday, December 15, 2017)

What is my Blackboard USERNAME and PASSWORD?

Username  = everything before the @ symbol in the Cumberland email address (@student.cccnj.edu or @student.rcsj.edu).

Typically, the username is the first letter of the first name + last name or partial last name+ (a digit or 2 if the name is common). Example: jsmith, jsmith2, jsmith26...
If you don't know your email address, please email the HELPDESK at helpdesk@cc.rcsj.edu or call at 856.200.4811 and ask the support person for help with your college email account.

The password = 8 digit birth date (MMDDYYYY) unless changed by the user. The password for instructors is given by the Blackboard Administrator.
If you have forgotten your password and need to reset it, click  "Forgot Your Password?"  located under the username and password fields above. After clicking, you will be asked to enter your first name, last name, and either username or email address (use Cumberland email address only).

A password reset message will be sent to your Cumberland email inbox. Follow the instructions in the message to reset.

If you are unable to reset your password using the instructions above, you may complete a  Blackboard Technical Support Request Form.

How do I Change my Blackboard Password?

Once you are logged in, click your name on the Institution Page's blue menu and you will see the option to change your password.

Am I ready for Online Learning?
Students taking ONLine & HYBrid courses should complete the  Distance Learning Orientation before accessing their courses.
A Demo Course is also available for those wishing to learn more about using Blackboard. To be enrolled in the demo course, simply log in to Blackboard and click Cumberland Demo Course under Tools on the upper, left-hand side.

Video tutorials for students are available on this website: On Demand Blackboard Tutorials

I am registered but I have COURSES MISSING, now what?

Students are not given access to their Blackboard courses until a few days before semester start; therefore, courses may not appear in Blackboard until then. IF THE SEMESTER HAS STARTED and you know that you are enrolled in a course but it is not appearing in your list, complete the Blackboard Tech Support request form below. NOTE: Most on-campus courses use Blackboard, but there are a few exceptions (most notably in the performing arts). All onine and hybrid courses will use Blackboard.

To get Blackboard support, complete the Blackboard Technical Support Request Form.

If you have trouble accessing the Bb Tech Support Form, sign in to your college Gmail account (@student.cccnj.edu or @student.rcsj.edu), and then click the form's link above.

This technical support request form allows students to request missing courses, reset passwords, request help with a Blackboard feature, or request some other type of Blackboard help.

    Other Important Technical Information

    College Email:

Blackboard only uses college-issued email accounts for communication. Additionally, students will receive messages from instructors and/or Blackboard announcements only in their Cumberland email inboxes. The same is true for the instructors. When students send messages through Blackboard, they will only be sent to the instructor's RCSJ email account. Students and instructors are expected to check their college email accounts regularly. Students may go to - https://gmail.com to log in.

    Recommended Browsers:

Blackboard works well with specific browsers, for example, Google Chrome and Mozilla.org's FireFox. Using Safari, Internet Explorer, or other browsers may cause incompatibility when using Blackboard, especially when taking a test.

Mobile Devices and Blackboard's Mobile Learn App:

Mobile Devices (smartphones and tablets) have some limitations while navigating Blackboard. Mobile devices are not recommended for submitting assignments or taking tests. While Blackboard's Mobile App does have some advantages, the support for it from the College is limited. Students should contact Blackboard directly for help with the Blackboard Learn App.

    Instructor Questions:

How do I request Blackboard shells for my courses?

Instructors must request their Blackboard courses each semester. The form to request is under Helpful Resources-Faculty on the Blackboard Institution page. If the course is brand new, instructors should request a weekly or unit template, whichever better suits their needs. Instructors who have not been certified at Cumberland (for fully online or hybrid courses) or have not participated in Cumberland training (for f2f courses), must contact Judy (jcirucci@rcsj.edu) to make the proper arrangements for training before course shells are delivered.

How can I get Technical Support by phone?

During regular business hours contact Judy at 856.200.4528. During off-hours and weekends complete the form mentioned above. To make a request via email, email distancelearning@rcsj.edu.
